Lately as you know I was in Fashion Week Panama, although I didn’t have time to travel around Panama and visit fantastic San Blas Islands, I could at least walk around Panama City. So if you are going for business trip or just stay in Panamanian capital for a weekend here is must- see list.
Como muchos ya saben hace poco estuve en Fashion Week Panamá y aunque no tuve tiempo de viajar por toda Panamá y visitar las hermosas Islas San Blas, al menos pude conocer la ciudad de Panamá. Así que si planean hacer un viaje de negocios o simplemente quedarse en la capital panameña para un fin de semana aquí está mi lista de lo que deben ver.
TOP 6 THINGS TO DO IN PANAMA CITY:
6 COSAS PARA HACER EN LA CIUDAD DE PANAMÁ:
1. CINTA COSTERA
La Cinta Costera is a nice spot to visit. It connects with Casco Antiguo, so it’s nice spot for a jogging, have a walk or ride bicycle. It shows distinct sections of the city amazing view of the sea and modern skyscrapers.
La Cinta Costera es un lugar muy bonito para visitar con una vista increíble al mar y rascacielos. La promenada conecta con el Casco Antiguo, excelente lugar para jogging, paseo o bicicleta.
2. CANAL DE PANAMA
Absolutely must-see in Panama City is of course The Panama Canal. To visit it you need to go to the Miraflores Visitors Center at the Miraflores Locks. Inside you will find museum with interactive exhibits and a short film on the building of the Canal. An outside terrace gives you close-up views of ships transiting through the locks, if you are lucky you will see one.
The admission cost are 15$.
The Center is about 40 minutes from hotel zone and it can cost you about 30-50 dollars to get there and return to your hotel. My recommendation negotiate de price and try to make 2 in 1, go visit Panama Canal and Old Town on the same day. Panamanian Drivers will wait for you, time you need.

El Canal de Panamá es por supuesto el must-see, si visitas la ciudad de Panamá. Para llegar allí debes destinar al menos 2 horas. El Canal se puede ver desde la terraza en el Centro de Visitantes de Miraflores. En su interior encontrarás también museo con exhibiciones interactivas y un cortometraje sobre la construcción del Canal.
El costo de admisión es de 15 $.
El Centro está a unos 40 minutos de la zona hotelera y te puede costar unos 30 a 50 dólares para llegar allí y volver a tu hotel en taxi. Mi recomendación es negociar el precio y tratar de hacer 2 en 1, ir a visitar a Canal de Panamá y la Casco Viejo el mismo día. Lo bueno es que los conductores panameños te van a esperar el tiempo que necesitas sin cobrar adicional.
3. OLD TOWN
I absolutely recommend you to visit Old Town, it’s really stunning, colourful place, full of magic and delicious restaurants. The 341 year old Spanish colonial sector built in 1671 is a must-do. Casco Viejo showcases Panama’s Spanish Colonial. The best way to enjoy it is to go there for lunch, try one of its restaurants and than walk around and get lost. It’s about half an hour from main hotels’ zone and taxi will cost you around 15-20 dollars.
El sitio que no te puedes perder es el Casco Viejo. Este impresionante lugar, muy colorido, lleno de mágicos rincones y deliciosos restaurantes, tiene ya 341 años. Se caracteriza por sus casas coloniales construidas por los españoles en 1671. La mejor manera de disfrutarlo es ir allí a pasear y probar uno de sus deliciosos restaurantes. Es alrededor de media hora de la zona hotelera y el taxi costará alrededor de 15 dólares.
4. BUY PANAMA HAT
Panama hats are light-colored hats, which were made famous during construction of the Panama Canal. You will see many places selling them. Prices starts from 25$. I found my one in small store in Old Town.
Sombreros panameños reconocidos por sus colores claros se hicieron famosos durante la construcción del Canal de Panamá. Es un perfecto regalo de Panama y lo puedes encontrar en muchos lugares. Los precios comienzan a partir de 25 $. Yo compré el mío en Casco Vieja.
5. HARD ROCK HOTEL MEGAPOLIS
If you are going for the first time to Panama City I really recommend you to stay in Hard Rock Hotel. This 66-story tower is located right in the heart of Panama City. It has 1400 amazing stylish rooms, that simply rocks with the best music.
It’s a little bit expensive. But if you can’t afford it, don’t worry, simply visit its swimming pool bar with panoramic view at the city or come for a party at 62th floor and enjoy your night. And absolutely recommended its brunch! So delicious and with as many options to eat as you can imagine.
6. RESTAURANT HUMO
Panama City’s is rated by Trip Advisor as one of the Top Ten Best Latin American cities for its restaurants. You can find there a great variety of cuisines in all kind of price-range.
One restaurant you should visit is Humo, the second restaurant of renowned Panamanian chef Mario Castrellón. He was chosen as one of the top 10 chefs in Latin America by the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy. He offers local cuisines combined with international dishes like barbecue or burgers.The prices are around 10-30 $. The staff is a bit slow, but it’s worth to visit, really charming place

Panama City está clasificada por Trip Advisor como una de las diez mejores ciudades de América Latina para visitar los restaurantes. Como es una ciudad de cruce internacional, hay una gran variedad de restaurantes de todo tipo de cocinas y de todo rango de precios.
Humo es el segundo restaurante del reconocido chef panameño Mario Castrellón, aclamado como uno de los mejores 10 chefs de Latinoamerica por la Real Academia Española de Gastronomía. Lo que intenta hacer aquí es presentar unos platos con influencias locales adaptados a los platos internacionales como barbacoa o hamburguesas. Cada plato está dedicadamente pensado y tiene ricas combinaciones de ingredientes. Los precios de 10 a 30$. El staff es poquito lento, pero vale la pena porque el lugar es encantador.
